About Peter
| Peter was born in Belgium on 12 Feb 1968 and then joined the military in 1983 at the age of 14 as a Cadet. He completed his Military Academy in 1990 and volunteered for the Belgian Para-Commando Regiment, where he subsequently was a Platoon commander in the 3rd Para Battalion and later an instructor for future Officers and NCO’s in the Commando Training Center. |
| In 1995, Peter applied for the Special Forces selection course, and he served in Special Forces until he completed his Advanced Staff College degree. Thereafter, he was assigned to Joint Staff Head Quarters where he was an advisor to the Chief of Defence in Special Forces matters. During his military career he has worked in a wide range of demanding and complex environments in particular, Somalia, Congo-Brazzaville, DR Congo, Rwanda, Burundi, Ivory Coast and the Balkans. Peter resigned from the Military after 21 years of service and joined a humanitarian organization in December 2003 as Regional Security Advisor for South East Asia. |
As Regional Security Advisor, Peter was responsible for his organisation’s security aspects of 11 countries in South East Asian Region and he was also involved in the emergency response phase of the Tsunami in 2004.
Peter has a wonderful daughter, Renée.
