The Race: The North Face Courmayeur Champex Chamonix : longer and higher!
The 2008 edition will take place on the 29th and 30th of August.
In comparison with the 2007 course, it has been lengthened by 12 km. Main modifications include the crossing of different villages surrounding Courmayeur where the race starts and heads in the direction of Val Ferret (La Saxe, Entrèvres, Planpincieux). The first 7 kilometres will take place for the most part on little roads enabling the platoon to better stretch out. The climb to Bertone will take place via the path which leaves from Planpincieux, then will continue until the summit of Mont de la Saxe, with the passage through the Tête de la Tronche at 2,581m (the latest and highest point on the course). This is followed by the descent onto the Col Sapin. From there, runners will be going down via the Val d’Armina to get back on the 2007 course just before the Bonatti Refuge.
This new course will add up to about 98 km for 5600 m of positive altitude change. The race is limited to 2,000 runners (1,500 in 2007).
